One More Load

We were exhausted after the Expedite Expo as we gave it our all from early morning till late at night each day of the show, as well as the two days before the Expedite Expo getting ready. On Sunday after the Expo, before we could pick up Texas from where she was being boarded, we spent the day working on getting the truck back in working order and we spent some time relaxing. Our suitcases had to be unpacked, purchases put away, and everything set back out in anticipation of Texas (her toys, food dish, water dish, and treats). As soon as we picked up our very happy German Shepherd puppy, we needed to roll further south to pick up a load going to Laredo, TX and we were preassigned on a load going back north to within 300 miles of our house. PERFECT! Then, this high paying load popped up loading in St. Louis going to Arkansas and we had time to do that load and then, you guessed it, where we were delivering, another load popped up. Yep, a good paying load, but it did not pick up till Monday morning delivering Tuesday morning. So, we delivered on Friday and we had the weekend to get through before picking up on Monday. The reasoning was that the load that delivered on Tuesday would put us a little closer to home than we were on Friday.

Found another RV Campground

As we were waiting to unload, I started searching for a campground for us that had the amenities we need. I found one not very far from our delivery and our pickup that had everything we needed, so off we went for a weekend to get our truck put back together before we headed home and a couple of really crazy weeks. This campground had a nice pond, but wow was it hot!

We were all very thankful for our air conditioning in the truck and did not spend very much time outside. What we found interesting though was learning that this campground will be totally full within a couple of weeks and will stay that way through the school season. The college students rent the RV spots and stay at the quiet RV Campground instead of getting a dorm.  What a great idea.

Trucker Buddy International Teacher

As many of you know we are a member of Trucker Buddy International,, and our classes are in France. Two years ago, we traveled to France to visit our teacher and her students. At that time, they made the decision to tour the United States in 2018 with their children. Well, it has happened and we spent three full jam-packed days with the family. We toured some of the well-known attractions and then we took them to see some of the local spots.

The last evening they were at the house, we all played Uno. While we were in France we played Uno with the children and they were in awe of our shuffling skills and they wanted to learn how to shuffle. We all play with similar rules and we are able to stack Draw Four’s as well as Draw Two’s on one person. Well, Valentine and Axel had great joy stacking these cards on one person and the house echoed with laughter. This was a great way to end their visit with us before they moved on to see New York City. It was with a very sad heart and many tears as we bid them good-bye on Monday. We have some new plans and ideas for the Trucker Buddy program in this upcoming year with her students.

Landstar Expo

As soon as Stephanie and her family left, we packed our bags for Lincolnshire, IL to attend the Landstar Expo. We were one of three BCO’s to sit on a panel to talk with agents about what an Expedite truck is capable of and what problems we can solve for them. Some of the agents have never used an expedite truck and knew very little about our capabilities. We had fun talking with the agents and people from corporate.  Every time we are with this group we learn a lot of ways to improve our business. I hope with the information we share the agents learn how they can use Expedite trucks. The Landstar Expo is a great way to share knowledge and help each other.

Our days, weeks, and months are never boring! While I write this, we are loading the truck and getting ready to go back to work.

Wishing you safe travels. Till next time,
